Reading Tips

  • Have a special place that is comfortable and has good lighting where you can read with your child every day.

  • Read aloud to your child and point to the words as you read. This helps the child to understand that the words go from right to left on the page.

  • Hold young children on your lap as you read or let them sit or lie in a comfortable position...mayble cuddle.

  • Let the child stop and ask questions or talk about the pictures.

  • Have lots of books available for your child. Also have non toxic, washable crayons and paper.

Easy Pizza Snack for Kids

(I've make this snack for my grandkids for years. They love it, it's so easy and it's healthy. Older kids can make this for themselves.)

1 6" flour tortilla
3 T spaghetti sauce (more or less to taste)
3 T grated cheese (more or less to taste)
Other toppings such as pepperoni, sausage or cut vegetables if desired.

Punch holes in the tortilla with a fork. (This keeps the tortilla from puffing up in the microwave.)
Place in microwave oven until crisp. (It's about 2 minutes in my oven.)
Place tortilla on a plate, spread on the spaghetti sauce and top with cheese and other desired toppings.
Return to microwave oven until cheese is melted.
Cool for about one minute and serve with a favorite drink.
